Mark O’Connor will perform at The Hub, Edinburgh on August 16, 2026. O’Connor is a highly regarded American violinist, composer, and educator known for his innovative approach to string music. His style blends elements of bluegrass, jazz, country, and classical traditions, often incorporating improvisation and exploring the possibilities of the violin beyond its conventional role. He is particularly noted for pioneering the “New Acoustic” movement and has collaborated with artists across diverse genres. O'Connor has received numerous awards including a Grammy Award and multiple CMA awards.
The Hub is a landmark building in Edinburgh city centre, situated at the top of the Royal Mile. Originally built between 1844 and 1846 as the Tollbooth Church for the Relief Church, it served as a municipal building for much of the 20th century housing Edinburgh City Council. In 1999, following extensive refurbishment undertaken as part of the Millennium Link project, it was repurposed as a centre for performing arts and events. The building's distinctive conical spires are a prominent feature of Edinburgh’s skyline.
