The Manila Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Manila Metropolitan Theater on July 4, 2026. Established in 1926, the Manila Symphony Orchestra is the oldest orchestra in the Philippines. Its repertoire spans a broad range of classical music, encompassing works from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th/21st-century periods. While rooted in Western classical tradition, the orchestra frequently incorporates Filipino compositions and collaborates with local artists, reflecting a commitment to Philippine musical heritage. The ensemble is known for its performances of both standard orchestral pieces and lesser-known works, aiming to broaden musical appreciation within the country.
The Manila Metropolitan Theater (MET), located along Padre Burgos Avenue, holds significant cultural importance in Philippine history. Originally designed by Juan M. Arellano and completed in 1931, it served as a premier venue for performing arts – including opera, dance, concerts and vaudeville – during the pre-war era. Following damage during World War II, it underwent several restorations. A major rehabilitation project concluded in December 2021 restoring much of its original Art Deco architectural features and functionality after decades of disrepair.
