Experience Maki Namekawa live on June 7th
Maki Namekawa is a Japanese pianist internationally recognized for her interpretations of contemporary classical music, particularly the works of György Ligeti, Olivier Messiaen, and Morton Feldman. Her playing is often described as possessing both precision and a deeply expressive quality, frequently highlighting the textural and sonic possibilities within complex scores. She is also known for her commitment to exploring lesser-known 20th and 21st-century composers.
The concert will take place at Philharmonie de Paris, a major concert venue inaugurated in January 2015. Located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, it is part of a larger park complex, the Parc de la Villette. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the Philharmonie de Paris features two primary concert halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, known for its vineyard-style seating arrangement offering close proximity to the performers, and the smaller Studio Erma Metzis. The venue aims to be accessible to a wide audience with diverse programming encompassing classical music, contemporary music, jazz, and world music. It replaced existing concert facilities previously scattered across Paris and represents a significant investment in France's cultural infrastructure.
