Experience Magdeburgische Philharmonie live on December 30th

Magdeburgische Philharmonie, the resident orchestra of Saxony-Anhalt, presents a concert at Theater Magdeburg on December 30, 2026. The orchestra’s repertoire is broad, encompassing works from the Baroque period through to contemporary compositions, with a particular focus on German Romantic and early 20th-century composers. They frequently perform alongside internationally renowned soloists and are known for their commitment to both orchestral standards and innovative programming.

Theater Magdeburg holds a significant place in the cultural landscape of the region. Originally opened in 1915 after a design competition won by Oskar Kaufmann, the building replaced an earlier theatre destroyed by fire. While it underwent extensive renovations following damage during World War II—reopening in 1958—it retains elements of its original Art Nouveau style. The theatre complex houses three distinct performance spaces: the Große Bühne (main stage) for opera and ballet, the Kleine Bühne (small stage) for plays and smaller musical performances, and the Konzertsaal (concert hall), which will host the Magdeburgische Philharmonie. Throughout its history, Theater Magdeburg has served as a vital center for operatic, dramatic, and orchestral performance in Magdeburg and beyond.
