Lyrics Born, the stage name of Tom Shimura, will be performing at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox in Denver, Colorado on October 15, 2026. Shimura is a Japanese-American hip-hop artist known for his eclectic style, often described as blending alternative hip-hop with elements of jazz, funk, and soul. His music frequently incorporates live instrumentation and thoughtful lyricism addressing themes of identity, culture, and everyday life. He initially gained recognition as one half of the duo Latyrx in the late 1990s before embarking on a successful solo career.

Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox is a Denver music venue located in the historic Ballpark neighborhood. Originally built in 1913 as a funeral home – the Olinger Mortuary – it underwent extensive renovations to transform into a performance space while retaining many of its original architectural features. The venue is known for its intimate setting and unique aesthetic, incorporating elements of Victorian design alongside modern sound and lighting systems. It regularly hosts a diverse range of musical acts spanning genres like rock, blues, funk, and hip-hop, alongside burlesque and variety shows.
