Lyric Quartet will perform at Sainte-Chapelle in Paris on August 7, 2026. The ensemble is recognized for its interpretations of the classical string quartet repertoire, with a particular focus on composers from the Viennese tradition – Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven – alongside explorations of works by later Romantic and 20th-century composers. Their performances are noted for technical precision and expressive depth, emphasizing both historical awareness and a contemporary sensibility.
Sainte-Chapelle is a royal chapel in the Gothic style, within the Palais de la Cité on the Île de la Cité in Paris. Commissioned by King Louis IX of France to house precious Christian relics – including what was believed to be the Crown of Thorns – construction began in 1248 and completed in 1258. The chapel is renowned for its extensive use of stained glass; fifteen large windows depict over one thousand scenes from the Old and New Testaments. These windows constitute one of the most significant surviving collections of 13th-century stained glass globally. The building’s architectural design intentionally maximizes light penetration, creating a visually stunning interior space intended to evoke a sense of heavenly radiance.
