The Louisville Orchestra will perform at The Kentucky Center in Louisville, United States on May 8, 2027. The Louisville Orchestra is a fully professional orchestra with a history spanning over seven decades, known for its broad repertoire encompassing classical masterworks, contemporary compositions, and pops programming. Historically, the orchestra has been recognized for commissioning new works and fostering American composers, notably through its First Edition series during the mid-20th century led by conductor Robert Whitney.
The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, where the concert will take place, opened in 1985 as a multi-disciplinary performing arts complex. It serves as the primary venue for Broadway shows, orchestral performances including those of the Louisville Orchestra, dance companies, and other cultural events in Louisville. Designed by architects SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill), the Center features several performance spaces including Whitney Hall – where the orchestra frequently performs – and Bomhard Theater. The Center was conceived as a revitalization project for downtown Louisville’s Theater Square and has become a significant landmark contributing to the city’s cultural landscape. It is owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and operated by a non-profit organization.
