The Louisville Orchestra will perform at The Kentucky Center in Louisville, United States on January 30, 2027. The Louisville Orchestra, founded in 1934, is a fully professional orchestra renowned for its commitment to both traditional orchestral repertoire and contemporary works, including a significant history of commissioning new pieces. Throughout its existence, the orchestra has maintained a focus on community engagement alongside its artistic pursuits and has recorded extensively, notably for Vox Records during the mid-20th century.
The Kentucky Center, opened in 1985, serves as Kentucky’s largest performing arts center. Designed by architect Moshe Safdie, it encompasses five theaters: Whitney Hall (the primary venue for the Louisville Orchestra), Bomhard Theater, Norton Theater, Kentucky Theater and the Studio Theater. The Center hosts a diverse range of performances including Broadway shows, concerts, dance recitals and theatrical productions. It was conceived as a central hub to revitalize downtown Louisville and provide a dedicated space for regional and national arts organizations. The building's distinctive architectural features include a glass-enclosed lobby offering views of the Ohio River. It is a landmark building within the city’s cultural landscape.
