The Louisville Orchestra, Kentucky’s premier professional orchestra, presents a concert on October 17, 2026, at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts in Louisville. The orchestra’s repertoire spans a broad range, encompassing standard orchestral works from the Baroque period through the 21st century, with a noted history of commissioning and performing new music – particularly during the tenure of Theodore Antoniou in the latter half of the 20th century. It is recognized for its commitment to both traditional masterworks and contemporary compositions, frequently collaborating with soloists of international renown.
The Kentucky Center, opened in 1983, serves as the largest performing arts space in Kentucky and a significant cultural landmark for Louisville. Designed by architects SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill), it houses five distinct performance spaces: Whitney Hall (the primary venue for the Louisville Orchestra), Bomhard Theater, Norton Theater, Studio One and The Kentucky Center’s lawn. The Center was conceived as a revitalization project for Louisville’s downtown area and has hosted a diverse array of performances including Broadway shows, dance companies, concerts and other theatrical productions. It underwent significant renovations completed in 2019 enhancing accessibility and patron experience.
