The London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) will perform at the Philharmonie de Paris on January 15, 2027. The LSO is renowned for its versatility and broad repertoire, encompassing standard orchestral works from the Baroque period through to contemporary compositions. While historically associated with Romantic and 20th-century British composers like Elgar and Vaughan Williams, the orchestra actively commissions and performs new music, demonstrating a commitment to innovation alongside tradition. It’s known for its distinctive sound – often described as powerful and refined – and extensive recording history, including numerous film soundtracks.

The Philharmonie de Paris, opened in 2015, is a major concert venue in the Parc de la Villette, Paris. Designed by Jean Nouvel, its architecture features a striking asymmetrical design intended to blend into the surrounding parkland. The complex comprises two main halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, known for its exceptional acoustics and seating capacity of approximately 2,400; and smaller spaces dedicated to chamber music and educational activities. The venue aims to be accessible to diverse audiences and hosts a wide range of musical genres beyond classical, including jazz and contemporary music.
