Place des Templiers is a historical square located in the heart of Poitiers’ old town. Originally the site of the Poitiers Commandery of the Knights Templar – hence its name – construction began in the 12th century. Following the dissolution of the Templar Order in the early 14th century, the site transitioned to the control of other orders before becoming a residential area. The current appearance largely reflects renovations undertaken during the 19th and 20th centuries. Today it serves as a public space frequently used for events and gatherings due to its central location and architectural significance, including remaining portions of medieval walls and structures.
