Les Timbres is a French ensemble specializing in the performance of contemporary vocal and instrumental music, often characterized by its exploration of microtonality, spectral music, and extended vocal techniques. Their compositions frequently involve intricate harmonies and a focus on timbre – the unique sound quality of instruments and voices – hence the group’s name, translating to “the stamps” or “the timbres.” The ensemble was founded in 2006 by composer and vocalist, Keyvan Chemirani.

The concert will take place at the Abbaye de Silvacane, a Cistercian abbey located in La Roque-d'Anthéron, France. Founded in 1175, it represents a significant example of Cistercian architecture in Provence. The abbey is renowned for its Romanesque church, notable for its well-preserved ribbed vaulting and sculpted capitals depicting biblical scenes and plant motifs.

Silvacane flourished during the 12th and 13th centuries as a center of intellectual and artistic life but experienced decline with the move of the community to La Roque-d'Anthéron village in the late 14th century.
