Classical Concerts in Los Angeles

Experience Les Talens Lyriques live on May 2nd

Les Talens Lyriques, a French period instrument ensemble, will perform at Colburn School’s Thayer Hall in Los Angeles on May 2nd, 2027. The ensemble, founded by Christophe Rousset in 1992, specializes in Baroque and Classical era music, prioritizing historically informed performance practice. Their interpretations are noted for a vibrant and dramatic approach, utilizing instruments and performance techniques consistent with the composers’ original intentions. They frequently explore lesser-known works alongside established repertoire from composers like Rameau, Lully and Handel.

Thayer Hall is the primary performance space within the Colburn School, a leading performing arts school offering instruction in music and dance. Opened in 2003, the hall is renowned for its acoustics specifically designed for chamber music and vocal performances. Its design incorporates a vineyard-style seating arrangement – surrounding the stage on three sides – to create an intimate connection between performers and audience. The hall’s capacity is approximately 400 seats. The Colburn School itself was founded in 1951 as the Community Arts Association and has evolved into a nationally recognized institution dedicated to training artists and providing access to high-quality performing arts education.
