Les Musiciens du Louvre, founded by Marc Minkowski, is renowned for its historically informed performance practice, specializing in Baroque and Classical period music. Their performances are characterized by dynamic energy, expressive phrasing, and a commitment to stylistic authenticity.
Tonhalle Zurich is a concert hall with a significant history in Swiss musical life. Originally built in 1895 as a venue for the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich, a society founded in 1834 to promote orchestral concerts, it has undergone several renovations. The current building represents a substantial reconstruction completed in 2007, designed by architect Marcus Schirmer. This renovation preserved the hall’s renowned acoustics while modernizing facilities.
The Tonhalle is home to both the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Zurich Opera House’s orchestra; it regularly hosts international orchestras and soloists across various genres. Its design incorporates elements intended to enhance the natural resonance of instruments and provide optimal sound distribution throughout the hall.
