Classical Concerts in Amsterdam

Experience Lenneke Ruiten live on October 4th

Lenneke Ruiten is a Dutch composer and harpsichordist known for her contemporary classical music, often incorporating elements of early music and improvisation. Her compositions frequently explore the interplay between acoustic and electronic sounds, and are characterized by a delicate yet complex harmonic language. She often works with extended techniques on the harpsichord, pushing the boundaries of the instrument’s traditional capabilities. Ruiten’s work has been commissioned by numerous ensembles and institutions internationally.

The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the venue for the performance on October 4th, 2026, is renowned globally for its exceptional acoustics. Completed in 1888, it was designed by Pieter Cuypers and Adolf Leonard van Gendt. The building's distinctive brick Gothic Revival architecture houses the Main Hall (Grote Zaal), celebrated as one of the finest concert halls in the world.

The hall’s shape, inspired by the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg (though predating it by over a century) and influenced by shoebox designs, contributes significantly to its natural reverberation and clarity.
