Classical Concerts in Chantilly
Experience Lea Desandre live on October 11th
Lea Desandre is a French-Italian countertenor specializing in baroque and classical repertoire, though she increasingly incorporates contemporary works into her performances. Her musical style is characterized by vocal agility, expressive ornamentation, and a dramatic interpretation of text, often focusing on themes of mythology and emotion. She has gained international recognition for her interpretations of composers like Handel and Vivaldi, as well as collaborations with modern composers creating pieces specifically for her voice.
The concert will take place at the Château de Chantilly, located in Chantilly, France. Originally a medieval fortress, the current Château largely reflects the ambitions of Henri de Guise, who rebuilt it in the 16th century. However, it was the Duke of Aumont who initiated major renovations in the late 17th century, giving it much of its present classical appearance. The Château houses a significant collection of art, including paintings by Raphael and Botticelli, and is renowned for its extensive horse stables – the Grandes Écuries – which remain one of Europe’s largest surviving equestrian structures. Throughout its history, the Château has served as a royal residence and a center for aristocratic life and entertainment; hosting events that reflect its cultural importance.
