Lambchop, the Nashville-based musical project led by Kurt Wagner, will perform at St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church in Galway, Ireland on February 20, 2027. Lambchop’s music is often described as blending elements of country, jazz, soul, and electronic music, characterized by Wagner’s distinctive, often spoken-word vocal delivery and lush orchestral arrangements. Initially formed in the early 1990s, the group gained recognition for its unconventional approach to songwriting and performance, evolving significantly over its career through various instrumentation and stylistic explorations.
St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church is Galway’s oldest church still in use today. Founded in 1320, though with earlier origins potentially dating back to the 6th century with a church established by Saint Nicholas of Myra, it served originally as a Catholic church before becoming a Church of Ireland (Anglican) place of worship following the Reformation. The building exhibits Gothic architecture and has undergone several restorations throughout its history. Notably, Christopher Columbus is recorded as having prayed there in 1477 during a voyage. The church frequently hosts cultural events alongside its religious functions, leveraging its unique acoustics and historical significance.
