Experience La Venexiana live on June 29th
La Venexiana, an ensemble renowned for its historically informed performance practice of 16th and 17th-century Italian music, will perform at Wigmore Hall on June 29, 2026. The group specialises in rediscovering and performing vocal and instrumental works from the Roman School and Neapolitan composers, frequently focusing on madrigals, motets, and early opera excerpts. Their interpretations are characterised by a refined vocal style, attention to ornamentation, and a commitment to the expressive nuances of the period.
Wigmore Hall opened in 1901, funded by Sir Thomas Beecham as a dedicated recital space. Unlike larger concert halls, it was specifically designed for chamber music and art song, resulting in exceptional acoustics prized by performers and audiences alike. Throughout its history, Wigmore Hall has hosted performances by many of the world’s leading musicians; it maintains a strong tradition of supporting both established artists and emerging talent. The hall is noted for its intimate atmosphere – seating approximately 544 people – and its lack of public funding contributes to its independent programming policy. It is considered one of the foremost chamber music venues globally and holds Grade I listed building status recognizing its architectural and historical importance.
