The Alte Oper (Old Opera) in Frankfurt holds significant cultural importance. Originally opened in 1880, it quickly became a prominent venue for opera and orchestral performances. Heavily damaged during Allied bombing raids in World War II, it lay in ruins for decades. A determined citizens' initiative successfully campaigned for its reconstruction, which was completed in 1981.
