Kayhan Kalhor will perform at Spot Groningen on November 17, 2027. Kalhor is a globally recognized Iranian kamancheh player and composer. Spot Groningen is a relatively new concert venue in the city, having opened in September 2023. It’s situated within the former Energiehuis building, a landmark industrial structure originally built to house the electricity plant for Groningen. The venue was specifically designed to accommodate a wide range of musical performances, prioritizing acoustic quality and flexibility. It features two primary halls: a larger main hall capable of holding approximately 750 people and a smaller, more intimate space. Spot Groningen aims to be a significant cultural hub for both local and international artists, focusing on contemporary music while also embracing various genres including jazz, world music and classical performances. The building's industrial heritage is intentionally incorporated into its aesthetic design.
