Justin Taylor, a Canadian composer and pianist, will perform at the Philharmonie de Paris on May 30, 2027. Taylor’s musical style is often described as minimalist, drawing influence from composers like Philip Glass and Steve Reich, but incorporating elements of jazz harmony and improvisation. His work frequently features repetitive structures, subtle shifts in texture, and a focus on extended performance durations, often exceeding several hours for individual pieces. He is known for both solo piano performances and compositions for larger ensembles.
The Philharmonie de Paris is a concert hall complex inaugurated in January 2015, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, it is the first purpose-built concert hall in Paris in over a century. The complex comprises two main halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez – seating approximately 2,400 – renowned for its adjustable acoustics and vineyard-style seating arrangement; and the smaller Salle de Découvertes, dedicated to educational programs and experimental music. It serves as a major venue for classical music, contemporary music, and jazz performances, hosting both domestic and international artists and orchestras.
