Experience Jean-Guihen Queyras live on July 29th

Jean-Guihen Queyras is a French cellist internationally recognized for his refined technique, insightful interpretations, and broad repertoire spanning Baroque to contemporary music. He is particularly noted for his performances of the standard cello concerto literature, as well as chamber music and works by modern composers like Ligeti and Dutilleux, often characterized by clarity of tone and emotional depth.

The concert will take place at Abbaye Saint-Michel de Cuxa, a Benedictine abbey located in the village of Codalet in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of southern France. Founded in 878, the abbey represents a significant example of Carolingian architecture, with substantial Romanesque additions made during the 11th and 12th centuries. It served continuously as a monastery for over a thousand years until its closure in 1901.

Following a period of disrepair, extensive restoration work began in the mid-20th century. Today, the abbey is recognized as a *monument historique* – a historical monument – by the French Ministry of Culture.
