La Maison Symphonique de Montréal, located within Place des Arts, is the primary performance venue for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Originally known as Salle Wilfred-Pelletier, it underwent a significant architectural renovation completed in 2011. This renovation focused heavily on acoustics, aiming to create one of the finest concert halls in the world; it achieved LEED Gold certification for its sustainable design. The hall’s design incorporates a floating concrete structure to minimize sound transmission and features adjustable acoustic panels to optimize sound quality for various performances. Prior to the renovations, the hall was built in 1989 and hosted a wide range of orchestral, choral, opera and popular music events. It has a seating capacity of approximately 1,900.
