While not a prison as the name suggests (referencing the infamous American Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary), the building's history contributes to its unique atmosphere. Originally constructed in the early 20th century as part of a larger complex of hospital buildings designed in a ‘pavilion’ style, it was repurposed as a concert hall in the 1990s.
