Isabelle Faust will perform at the Isarphilharmonie in Munich on July 2, 2026. Faust is a German violinist renowned for her historically informed performances and interpretations, often employing period instruments or striving for stylistic authenticity based on research into performance practices of earlier eras. Her playing is characterized by clarity, precision, and a distinctive tonal palette, frequently described as both intellectual and emotionally engaging. She performs a broad repertoire spanning Baroque to contemporary works, but is particularly known for her interpretations of Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms.
The Isarphilharmonie opened in 1905 as the Deutsches Theater, initially serving as a venue for operettas and dramas. Following damage during World War II, it underwent reconstruction and was repurposed primarily as a concert hall in the 1960s. It became the primary home of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra until the opening of the Philharmonie am Gasteig in 2022. The hall is noted for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere; seating approximately 1480 people. Though no longer the Munich Philharmonic’s main base, it remains an important concert venue within the city’s cultural landscape hosting a diverse range of musical events.
