Ibibio Sound Machine is scheduled to perform at The Red Theater in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on January 29, 2027. The group creates a unique sound blending modern electronic music production with elements of traditional Nigerian and Ghanaian highlife, Afrobeat, and palm-wine music. Fronted by Eno Williams’ powerful vocals – often sung in Efik and Igbo – their compositions feature driving rhythms, layered instrumentation including guitars, synths, and percussion, and a distinctly energetic stage presence. Formed in London in 2012, Ibibio Sound Machine has released several critically acclaimed albums and toured internationally.

The Red Theater is a relatively new performance venue within the Abu Dhabi cultural landscape, opening in 2023 as part of the Qasr Al Watan Presidential Palace complex. Designed to host a diverse range of artistic performances including music concerts, theatrical productions and dance performances, it distinguishes itself through its advanced audio-visual capabilities and intimate seating capacity of approximately 400. The theater’s aesthetic incorporates modern design elements with subtle references to Emirati heritage. It aims to position itself as a key location for both local and international artists seeking a high-quality performance space in the region.
