The Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, opened in 2009, serves as the home of the University of Oxford’s Music Faculty. Named in honour of the celebrated cellist Jacqueline du Pré, an alumna of St Hilda’s College, Oxford, the building provides state-of-the-art facilities for performance, teaching, and research in music. Designed by architects van Heyningen and Haward, it incorporates a 400-seat concert hall renowned for its acoustics, alongside practice rooms, teaching spaces, a music library and recording studios. The building’s design intentionally integrates into the surrounding historic landscape of Oxford University. It replaced older facilities previously dispersed across the city centre allowing for greater cohesion within the faculty.
