The Glenn Miller Orchestra is scheduled to perform at The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center in El Paso, Texas on December 18, 2026. The ensemble continues the musical legacy of Glenn Miller, renowned for his distinctive “Miller Sound” – a commercially successful and influential style of jazz and swing music popular during the 1930s and 40s. This sound is characterized by a clear clarinet lead, melodic trombone figures, and a rhythm section emphasizing a four-beat feel. Following Miller’s disappearance in 1944, the orchestra was reformed and has been touring consistently ever since, preserving his arrangements and style.

The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center opened in 1930 as a movie palace designed by architects Boller & Moody. Constructed in the atmospheric Spanish Baroque style, it originally served as a venue for vaudeville acts and film screenings with live organ accompaniment. Significant restoration efforts occurred in the 1980s, returning the theatre to its original grandeur. Today, it functions as a multi-purpose performing arts center hosting Broadway shows, concerts, ballet performances, opera and other events.
