The Glenn Miller Orchestra is scheduled to perform at The Historic Bakersfield Fox Theater on December 12, 2026. The ensemble continues the legacy of Glenn Miller, an American trombonist, arranger, composer and bandleader, whose music defined a significant era of swing jazz during the 1930s and early 1940s. The orchestra’s repertoire typically includes popular tunes from this period such as “In the Mood,” “Moonlight Serenade,” and “Sing, Sing, Sing,” characterized by a distinctive clarinet-led melody lines, tight ensemble playing, and a danceable rhythm. Following Miller’s disappearance in 1944 during World War II, the orchestra was reformed by his widow, Helen Miller, and continues to tour internationally under license.

The Historic Bakersfield Fox Theater originally opened in 1931 as a movie palace and vaudeville house. Designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style by architect Lewis A. Starling, it quickly became a central entertainment venue for Bakersfield and the surrounding region.
