Gilles Peterson is a British DJ, record producer and radio broadcaster internationally recognised for his eclectic and influential approach to music. His style broadly encompasses jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, Latin, and electronic music, often blending genres and championing both established and emerging artists. He’s known for digging deep into musical crates and showcasing sounds from across the globe, particularly focusing on Afrobeat, Brazilian music and broken beat. Peterson founded the Brownswood Recordings label in 2006, further establishing his role in nurturing innovative musical talent.

Liberty Hall in Moore Park, Sydney, Australia holds significant historical and architectural importance. Originally constructed in 1936 as a dance hall and entertainment venue for the workers of the Garden Island naval base and surrounding areas, it served as a central social hub. The building is notable for its Art Deco design featuring a sprung dance floor and distinctive facade. Following periods of varied use including as a boxing stadium and storage facility, Liberty Hall underwent extensive restoration in recent years to reinstate its original grandeur while adapting it for contemporary events. It now functions as a multi-purpose event space hosting concerts, exhibitions and private functions whilst retaining its heritage character.
