George Crotty will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on October 8, 2026. Crotty is a composer and improviser whose work frequently blends elements of jazz, classical music, and electronic soundscapes. His compositions often feature extended instrumental techniques and explore microtonal harmonies, creating a distinctive and atmospheric sonic experience. He is known for his collaborations with diverse ensembles and solo performances utilizing prepared piano and other acoustic instruments.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse structure (the Kaispeicher A) in the HafenCity district, it has quickly become a landmark of Hamburg and a renowned concert hall internationally. Its design, by Herzog & de Meuron architects, incorporates a striking glass facade built on an irregular base, creating a wave-like appearance.

The building houses the Grand Hall, seating 2,100 people, celebrated for its exceptional acoustics achieved through the "White Skin" interior design by Yasuhisa Toyota; as well as the smaller Recital Hall.
