Galactic is a New Orleans-based band renowned for its distinctive blend of funk, jazz, rock, and jam band improvisation. Formed in 1995, the group integrates elements of traditional New Orleans rhythms with modern instrumental prowess, frequently incorporating brass instruments and a strong emphasis on groove-based compositions. Over their career, Galactic has collaborated with numerous vocalists and artists across genres, solidifying their reputation for versatile musicianship and energetic live performances.

The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, located on the campus of the University of California, Davis, opened in 2002. Designed by architect Robert Diamond, it serves as a premier Northern California venue for a wide range of performing arts disciplines including dance, music, theatre, and opera. The center’s Jack Haynes Norton Pavilion holds approximately 2,444 seats and is known for its exceptional acoustics and adaptable stage configurations.

The Mondavi Center regularly hosts nationally and internationally recognized artists and ensembles. It functions as both a university resource for students and faculty as well as a cultural hub for the surrounding community offering educational outreach programs alongside its performance schedule.
