State Theatre in Portland, Maine, originally opened in 1929 as a movie palace and vaudeville house. Designed by architect Charles H. Blackley, it showcased a blend of Art Deco and Italian Renaissance architectural styles. Throughout its history, the venue hosted numerous prominent performers across various entertainment genres including film screenings, concerts, and theatrical productions. Following periods of decline and renovation—most notably a significant restoration completed in 2009—the State Theatre has re-established itself as a key performing arts venue in Portland.
