Gabrieli Consort & Players is renowned for its historically informed performance practice of early music, particularly vocal and instrumental works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The ensemble frequently focuses on the rich polychoral tradition originating in 16th and 17th-century Venice, often utilizing multiple instrumental and vocal groups to create spatial effects and dramatic textures. Founded by Paul McCreesh in 1982, the group has become internationally acclaimed for its interpretations of composers such as Giovanni Gabrieli – from whom it takes its name – Monteverdi, and Schütz.

TivoliVredenburg, the venue for the September 2nd, 2026 concert, is a prominent music complex in Utrecht, Netherlands. Opened in 2014, it consolidated several existing venues including Tivoli Gardens (established 1892), Vredenburg Music Centre and Pandora. The complex features five halls of varying sizes – the Grote Zaal (Great Hall) being the largest with a capacity exceeding 2,000 – alongside smaller spaces for more intimate performances. Its architectural design incorporates both preservation of historical elements from the original Tivoli Gardens building and modern construction techniques.
