Experience Franui live on October 3rd
Franui will perform at the Festspiele Erl in Austria on October 3, 2026. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of traditional Austrian folk music – particularly from the Alpine regions – with elements of jazz, classical, and contemporary composition. Their instrumentation typically includes accordion, clarinet, guitar, double bass, and vocals, creating a sound characterized by complex arrangements, virtuosic playing, and a dynamic range from delicate intimacy to energetic exuberance.
Festspiele Erl began in 1962 as a summer festival founded by Helmuth Felsenstein, initially focused on operetta in a former riding hall. Over time it evolved under successive artistic directors – including August Everding and Bernhard Gittinger – to encompass opera, concerts, and theatre productions. The festival is distinguished by its location within the Tyrolean Alps and its commitment to presenting both established repertoire and lesser-known works. A significant development was the construction of the Festspielhaus Erl in 2013; a purpose-built venue designed to accommodate large-scale operatic productions while maintaining an intimate atmosphere. The festival actively promotes regional artistic collaboration alongside international performers. It has become a prominent cultural event within Austria and beyond.
