Experience Franui live on October 2nd
Franui is scheduled to perform at the Festspiele Erl in Austria on October 2, 2026. The ensemble is known for its distinctive blend of traditional alpine folk music – specifically from the Zugspitz region – with elements of jazz, classical, and world music. Their instrumentation typically includes instruments like zither, accordion, clarinet, double bass, and voice, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted in regional tradition and strikingly contemporary.
The Festspiele Erl has a unique history. Founded in 1962 by Austrian actor and director Leopold Figl, it initially began as an open-air theatre festival focusing on plays by Ferdinand Raimund. Over time, the festival expanded to include opera, concerts, and other performing arts events. A defining feature of the Festspiele Erl is its location within a former imperial stud farm and the significant architectural contribution of architect Dieter Koller who designed the “Erl Festival House,” a grass-covered building specifically constructed for the festival’s needs. The venue's acoustics are highly regarded. The festival maintains a strong commitment to presenting both established works and innovative productions, often with a focus on Austrian cultural heritage.
