Cafe du Nord is a historic music venue located in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood. Originally opened in 1929 as a Prohibition-era speakeasy, it operated under that guise for several years before becoming a licensed bar in 1933. Throughout its history, the venue has hosted a diverse range of performers including jazz musicians during its early years and later transitioning to indie rock and electronic acts. The space underwent significant renovations in the late 2010s while maintaining much of its original art deco architecture. It's known for its intimate setting and distinctive subterranean layout. The venue currently operates as both a bar and live performance space.
