Flapjaques is a musical group generally categorized within the experimental rock and noise pop genres. Their sound incorporates elements of shoegaze, post-punk, and electronic music, often characterized by layered textures, distorted guitars, and introspective lyrical content. Formed in the early 2020s, they have released two studio albums to date – “Static Bloom” (2023) and “Peripheral Vision” (2024) – receiving critical acclaim in independent music circles for their innovative approach to sound design.

The Teloloapan Auto Lot, located in Chicago, Illinois, is an unconventional performance venue established in 2018. Originally a functioning automobile dealership specializing in vintage Mexican vehicles, the space was repurposed by local arts collective “Urban Echoes” into a multi-disciplinary arts hub. It maintains much of its original automotive aesthetic; performances are staged amongst displayed cars and auto parts. The lot’s acoustics are notably unique due to its concrete construction and open-air sections, contributing to a raw and immersive experience for both performers and audiences. It has since become known for hosting emerging artists across various disciplines including music, visual art and performance art.
