Experience Fatma Said live on January 10th
Fatma Said is scheduled to perform at Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam on January 10, 2027. Said is an Egyptian-Dutch soprano known for blending classical vocal training with influences from Arabic music and poetry. Her repertoire frequently incorporates Arabic texts alongside European art song, creating a distinctive and emotionally resonant sound. She often performs with piano accompaniment but also collaborates with ensembles incorporating traditional Arabic instruments.
Muziekgebouw, meaning “Music Building” in Dutch, opened in 2005 as part of a larger cultural complex including the Bimhuis jazz club. Designed by architect Wilhelm Holzbauer, it’s specifically engineered for acoustic performance, prioritizing sound quality for a diverse range of musical genres. Unlike traditional concert halls designed for orchestral sound projection, Muziekgebouw features a highly adaptable space – the Main Hall – with adjustable acoustics achieved through movable panels and a variable reverberation system. This allows it to cater effectively to contemporary classical music, world music, and solo performances. The building also houses smaller halls used for rehearsals, workshops and more intimate performances. It is located within Amsterdam's IJ-hallen complex on the north bank of the IJ river.
