Ezra Collective is a British quintet renowned for their dynamic blend of jazz, Afrobeat, and hip-hop influences. Formed in 2015, the group features Femi Koleoso on drums, TJ Koleoso on bass, Joe Armon-Jones on keys, James Makubuya on guitar and Nubya Garcia on saxophone. Their music is characterized by complex rhythms, improvisational energy, and a strong emphasis on collective interplay. They gained significant recognition with their 2022 album “Where I Breathe,” which won the Mercury Prize.
The concert will take place at Cava Di Tufo - Teatro Dell'Efebo in Agrigento, Italy. This venue is an archaeological site and open-air theatre carved directly into a former limestone quarry (cava). The "Tufo" refers to the tuff rock from which it’s excavated. Originally a Greek theatre dating back to the 3rd century BC, it was later adapted by the Romans. Rediscovered in the early 20th century, extensive restoration work has been undertaken to preserve and utilize the space for cultural events.
The site’s unique acoustics and historical significance make it a distinctive location for performances.
