Erthe St. James is a vocalist and performance artist known for blending jazz, blues, and theatrical storytelling into a uniquely immersive experience. Her work often incorporates elements of historical narrative, particularly focusing on the lives of overlooked Black women in American history, presented through song and spoken word. She frequently utilizes character work and costume to embody these figures.

Dorian’s, located in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, is a long-standing piano bar and performance venue with a notable history within the city’s LGBTQ+ community. Established in 1979 by Dorian Dash, it quickly became a haven for gay patrons during a period when such spaces were less common. The venue is characterized by its intimate setting, featuring a central piano around which performances occur. Dorian’s has hosted numerous local and nationally recognized musicians over the decades, becoming known for its dedication to live music – particularly jazz, cabaret, and show tunes – and its welcoming atmosphere. It remains independently owned and operated as of late 2023.
