Ensemble musikFabrik, a pioneering German new music ensemble based in Cologne, will perform at Muziekgebouw Amsterdam on January 14, 2027. The ensemble is internationally renowned for its commitment to contemporary composed music, frequently commissioning and premiering works, and exploring extended instrumental techniques. Their repertoire spans a broad range of styles within contemporary classical music, often characterized by complex textures, unconventional instrumentation – encompassing both acoustic and electronic elements – and a focus on the sonic possibilities of instruments beyond traditional performance practices.

Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, opened in 2005, is a leading concert hall dedicated to contemporary and new music. Designed by architect Wilhelm Holzbauer, it stands alongside the Concertgebouw, offering a contrasting venue focused on 20th and 21st-century compositions. The building’s acoustics were specifically engineered for experimental and electronically amplified sounds, accommodating a diverse array of musical approaches. It houses two primary halls: the Grote Zaal (Large Hall) with capacity for over 500 people and the Kleine Zaal (Small Hall), designed for more intimate performances and installations.
