Experience Ensemble Intercontemporain live on February 19th
Ensemble Intercontemporain, founded by Pierre Boulez in 1976, is a leading new music ensemble renowned for its dedication to contemporary classical music. The group champions works by both established and emerging composers, frequently performing pieces requiring extended techniques and exploring the boundaries of instrumental sound. Their repertoire spans serialism, spectral music, and works incorporating electronics and multimedia elements, often prioritizing complex rhythmic structures and innovative sonic textures.
The concert will take place at Philharmonie de Paris, a concert hall inaugurated in January 2015 as part of a larger cultural complex in the Parc de la Villette. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the *Grande salle* – where Ensemble Intercontemporain will perform – is notable for its modular design allowing for adjustable acoustics to suit different ensembles and musical styles. The Philharmonie de Paris aims to be a comprehensive center for musical discovery, offering educational programs alongside performances. It replaced the former Salle Pleyel as Paris’s premier concert venue and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology intended to enhance both performance quality and audience experience. The building’s metallic cloud-like exterior is a significant landmark in the Parisian skyline.
