Experience Ensemble Intercontemporain live on October 23rd
Ensemble Intercontemporain, founded by Pierre Boulez in 1976, is a leading new music ensemble renowned for its dedication to contemporary classical music. The group’s repertoire spans a wide range of styles, often characterized by complex rhythms, extended techniques, and exploration of timbre and unconventional instrumentation. They frequently commission and premiere works by living composers, pushing the boundaries of musical expression.
The concert will take place at Philharmonie de Paris, a landmark concert hall inaugurated in January 2015. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the Philharmonie is situated in the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement. It is notable for its distinctive undulating roof and its commitment to providing a modern and acoustically superior performance space. The complex houses two main halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez – seating approximately 2,400 – and a smaller, more intimate studio.
Philharmonie de Paris serves as the home of the Orchestre de Paris and hosts a diverse program of classical music, contemporary music, jazz, and world music performances. Its creation was part of a larger urban renewal project aimed at revitalizing the Parc de la Villette area.
