Ensemble Correspondances will perform at Espace Malraux in Chambéry, France on October 13, 2026. The ensemble, founded by Sébastien Daucé, specializes in historically informed performance practice of 17th and 18th-century French sacred music, particularly focusing on the repertoire of the royal chapel and grand motets. Their performances aim to recreate the sonic world of Versailles under Louis XIV and Louis XV, emphasizing dramatic expression and vocal virtuosity alongside rigorous scholarship. They often explore lesser-known composers alongside established figures like Lully and Delalande.
Espace Malraux is Chambéry’s primary performing arts venue, located within a building originally constructed as the city’s grain market (halle aux grains) in the late 19th century. Significant renovations in the 1980s transformed it into a multi-purpose cultural center. The space houses a large auditorium capable of hosting orchestral concerts, theatrical productions, and dance performances. It is named in honour of André Malraux, a French writer and statesman who was also Minister of Culture for much of the 1960s and early 1970s.
