Ensemble Ad Hoc is a German musical group renowned for its interpretations of 20th and 21st-century compositions, frequently focusing on works that bridge classical structures with elements of jazz, improvisation, and minimalism. The ensemble, founded in 1991, is known for its flexible instrumentation and collaborative approach, often incorporating diverse instruments alongside traditional classical ensembles. Their repertoire includes pieces by composers such as Steve Reich, John Cage, and György Ligeti, as well as commissioning new works.
Schloss Leitheim is a Baroque palace located in Leitheim, Bavaria, Germany. Originally constructed in the early 18th century for the Prince-Bishop of Augsburg, Alexander Sigismund von der Pfalz, it exemplifies the regional Baroque architectural style. The palace underwent significant alterations in the 19th century under the ownership of the Speth family, resulting in a neo-Gothic redesign by Friedrich von Gärtner. Following periods of varied use – including service as a hospital during World War II – Schloss Leitheim was extensively restored beginning in the 1970s.
