Trinity College Chapel is considered one of the finest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in England. Construction began in 1508 under the direction of Reginald Audley, and was completed over several decades. The Chapel’s interior is notable for its fan vaulting, large windows, and intricate wood carvings. It serves as both a functioning religious space for Trinity College – founded by Henry VIII in 1546 – and a venue for musical performances due to its exceptional acoustics. The Chapel has a long tradition of choral music, being particularly associated with the choir of men and boys of Trinity College, but also hosts orchestral concerts periodically. Its architectural significance contributes to its status as a landmark within Cambridge University and beyond.
