Experience Engerling live on April 16th
Andreas Engerling will perform at the Marienkirche in Dessau-Roßlau, Germany on April 16, 2027. Engerling is a German composer and multi-instrumentalist known for his work blending early music performance practice with contemporary improvisation and electronic soundscapes. His compositions frequently incorporate historical instruments – particularly various bagpipes and wind instruments – alongside digitally processed sounds, creating a unique sonic texture often described as neo-medieval or experimental folk. He draws inspiration from traditions across Europe, but notably from sources in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Marienkirche (St. Mary’s Church) in Dessau is a significant landmark with origins dating back to the 13th century, though the current structure largely reflects modifications from the 16th and 17th centuries following damage during the Thirty Years' War. Originally a Catholic church, it became Protestant during the Reformation. The church features a notable Renaissance organ built by Christian Keyß in 1609, which has undergone several restorations since. It served as the burial site for members of the ruling House of Ascania, historically important patrons of Dessau.
