The Margolis is a performance space located on the University of Pennsylvania campus. Originally constructed in 1961 as a dormitory, it was later repurposed and renovated to house music practice rooms, performance spaces, and offices for the university’s music department. It’s known for its intimate setting and relatively dry acoustics, making it suitable for a variety of chamber music and jazz performances. The building underwent significant renovations completed in 2018 that enhanced its functionality as a performance venue while retaining its mid-century modern architectural character. It regularly hosts student ensembles as well as professional musicians.
