Emma-Jean Thackray will perform at Opernhaus Dortmund on October 15, 2026. Thackray is a British multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer whose music blends elements of jazz, electronic music, funk, and psychedelic soul. Her work often features prominent use of brass instruments – she is a skilled trumpet player – alongside sampling, and incorporates influences from spiritual jazz and broken beat. She released her debut album, *Yellow*, in 2021 to critical acclaim, followed by *Um Yang 음양* in 2023.

Opernhaus Dortmund opened in 1964 after the original opera house was destroyed during World War II. It’s a significant venue for opera and ballet performances within the Ruhr region of Germany, but also hosts concerts spanning various genres. The building itself is noted for its modernist architectural style and acoustics. It underwent extensive renovation between 2007 and 2010 to modernize facilities while preserving its original design principles. The Opernhaus Dortmund has a capacity of approximately 768 seats and is managed as part of the Theater Dortmund organization which encompasses drama, ballet and concert performances.
